Manufacturer’s Description
1.1 Built-in Bluetooth Smart: No Dongle Required
The wireless solution for setting up, monitoring, and updating the controller using Apple and Android smartphones, tablets, or other devices.
1.2 VE.Direct
For a wired data connection with a Color Control Panel, a PC, or other compatible devices.
1.3 Ultra-Fast MPPT Tracking
Especially under cloudy conditions, when light intensity fluctuates constantly, a fast MPPT algorithm improves energy yield by up to 30% compared to PWM charge controllers and up to 10% compared to slower MPPT controllers.
1.5 BatteryLife: Intelligent Battery Management
If the solar charge controller cannot fully charge the battery within a single day, the battery’s charge status constantly alternates between “partially charged” and “end of discharge.” This operating mode (no regular full charging) can damage a lead-acid battery within just a few weeks or months.
The BatteryLife algorithm monitors the state of charge and, if necessary, gradually increases the load disconnect threshold each day (meaning the load disconnects earlier) until enough energy is collected to charge the battery nearly to 100%. Once this point is reached, the threshold is automatically adjusted so that a full charge is achieved roughly once per week.
1.6 Internal Temperature Sensor
Automatically compensates constant and float voltages according to temperature.
1.7 Automatic Battery Voltage Detection
The controller automatically adjusts once to a 12V or 24V system. If a different system voltage is required later, it must be changed manually using the Bluetooth app. See section 1.9 for details.
1.8 Three-Stage Charging
The controller is configured for a three-stage charging process: bulk – absorption – float. See sections 3.8 and 5 for information on standard settings, and section 1.9 for details on user-defined configurations.
1.8.1 Bulk: Constant Current Phase
During this phase, the controller delivers as much charging current as possible to quickly recharge the batteries.
1.8.2 Absorption: Constant Voltage Phase
When the battery voltage reaches the absorption voltage, the controller switches to constant voltage mode. For shallow discharges, the absorption time is kept short to prevent overcharging. After a deep discharge, the absorption phase is automatically extended to ensure the battery is fully recharged. The absorption phase ends when the charging current drops below 1A.
1.8.3 Float: Maintenance Phase
During this phase, the float voltage keeps the battery fully charged. If the battery voltage drops below the float level for more than one minute, a new charging cycle is initiated.
1.8.4 Equalization
See section 3.8.1 for details.
